Materials
You can make 50 woven Christmas hearts from the following:
Instructions
1) Take out 4 paper strips. 2 red and 2 white. You can cut the ends at an angle to make the strips easier to braid with.
2) Alternately place the strips under and over each other to form a square on the front as well as the back - alternating between a red and a white strip.
3) Gently tighten it by pulling on the ends of the strips to form a closed square. It does not have to be tight, but the strips should lie closely.
4) Bend the top strip down over the middle.
5) Repeat with the remaining strips by working counterclockwise and bending the strips over the middle. The fourth and last strip should go underneath the first strip you bent - as illustrated the picture.
6) Now bend your lower right white strip over the middle up under the red strip as illustrated in the picture. Bend the top red right strip over the middle and underneath the white strip as illustrated in the picture.
7) Turn the work over and now bend the red strip to the left over the middle underneath the white strip as shown in the photo. Bend the bottom white strip over the middle underneath the red strip as shown in the picture.
8) Bend the two white strips to the left backwards and down under the top red strip as illustrated in the picture.
9) Carefully pull until it creates a reasonably sized bow and cut off the remaining strip as close as possible to the red strip that it has just been placed under.
10) Bend the two red strips at the top backwards and down under the white strip as shown in the picture.
11) Gently pull until you create a suitably sized bow and cut off the remaining strip as close as possible to the white strip that it was just placed under.
12) You now have a long and a short red and white strip left. Cut down the long strips to make them as long as the short ones - this makes it easier to work with.
13) Turn the work. Bend the two red strips at the top backwards and down under the white strip as illustrated in the picture.
14) Carefully pull until it creates a suitably sized bow and cut off the remaining strip as close as possible to the white strip that it has just been placed under.
15) Bend the two white strips to the left backwards and down under the top red strip as illustrated in the picture.
16) Carefully pull until it creates a suitably sized bow and cut off the remaining strip as close as possible to the red strip it was just placed under.
