Free Crochet Pattern: Ladybug Basket

This ladybug basket is intended for storing e.g. crayons or markers. But you can of course use it to store whatever you like. Only your imagination sets the limits! The basket is crocheted with Infinity Hearts Amigurumi.

Measurements

The final measurements of the basket will be approx. 10.5cm in diameter and 10cm in height.

Materials

• Crochet hook size 3.50mm
• Darning needle
• Possibly Scissors 

Yarn consumption

• 1 skein of Infinity Hearts Amigurumi 29 Red
• 1 skein of Infinity Hearts Amigurumi 02 Black

Abbreviations

MR – magic ring

Dc – double crochet

Sl st – slip stitch

2 in the next – 2 dc in the same stitch

x(number) – repeat x number of times

*-* - repeat the entire round

Instructions

The basket:

• Start with red yarn

Round 1. 6 dc in MR (6)

Round 2. *2 dc in each s* (12)

Round 3. *1 dc, 2 in the next* (18)

Round 4. *2 dc, 2 in the next* (24)

Round 5. *3 dc, 2 in the next* (30)

Round 6. 2 dc, 2 in the next, *4 dc, 2 in the next* x5, 2 dc (36)

Round 7. *5 dc, 2 in the next* (42)

Round 8. 3 dc, 2 in the next, *6 dc, 2 in the next* x5, 3 dc (48)

Round 9. *7 dc, 2 in the next* (54)

Round 10. *8 dc, 2 in the next* (60)

Round 11. *9 dc, 2 in the next* (66)

Round 12. 1 dc in the back loop in each s (66)

Round 13-30. 1 dc in each s (66)

• Change to black yarn

Round 31-36. 1 dc in each s (66)

Round 37. 1 sl st in each s, bind off and weave in ends (66)

Dots (make 6):

• Black yarn

Round 1. 6 dc in MR (6)

Round 2. 2 dc in each s (12)

Finish with an sl st and leave a long tail for finishing.

You can choose to make two pom poms as the ladybug's antennae. For this, just use the black yarn and make them approx. 1.5cm in diameter.

Sew on the dots around the red body

You can add them on wherever you like - e.g. randomly around the body, or you can also choose to start by embroidering a black line from the bottom and up to the start of the black round, which sort of "divides" the ladybug's body, and then sew on the dots as you please.

Tip:
