Free Dream Catcher Pattern – Rotam

A dream catcher can be used to decorate your wall or ceiling and you can hang it in virtually any room in the house. The dream catcher was originally intended to be hung up in the bedroom or children's room to capture bad dreams, but in recent years dream catchers have become more and more popular as home decorations. This lovely dream catcher is crocheted with Shamrock yarns 100% mercerised cotton and a glitter thread.

Measurements

The dream catcher measures 30cm in diameter, and the strands can be made whichever length you want. For this dream catcher, I have used strands of 30cm and cut it a little bit.

Materials

• Crochet hook size 2.50mm
• Darning needle for finishing
• Possibly stitch markers and row counter
• 65 grams Shamrock yarns 172 Off White
• 2 rolls of Gütermann Metallic Effect Thread 24 Gold
• 1 pc Metal ring 30cm

Abbreviations

dc - double crochet

ch – chain stitch

sl st – slip stitch

Inc - increase (2 stitches in the same stitch)

tr - treble

Instructions

Begin by making 10 ch and join the chain stitch row with an sl st.

Make 3 ch and then 26 tr in the ch ring.

You start each round with 3 ch and finish with an sl st in 3 ch.

• 1 tr, skip 1 stitch, 3 ch
• 2 tr, 3 ch – the rest of the round

• 2 tr in the same stitch (inc), 3 ch
• 1 tr in the tr of the previous round, inc, 3 ch – the rest of the round

• 2 tr, inc, 3 ch
• 3 tr in the tr of the previous round, inc, 3 ch – the rest of the round

From now on you finish off the round with an sl st in the 2nd stitch in order to achieve the twist effect.

• 4 tr, 4 ch
• 5 tr in the tr of the previous round, 4 ch – the rest of the round

• 3 tr, inc, 4 ch
• 4 tr in the tr of the previous round, inc, 4 ch – the rest of the round

• 5 tr, 5 ch
• 6 tr in the tr of the previous round, 5 ch – the rest of the round

• 4 tr, inc, 6 ch
• 5 tr in the tr of the previous round, inc, 6 ch – the rest of the round

• 6 tr, 7 ch
• 7 tr in the tr of the previous round, 7 ch – the rest of the round

• 5 tr, inc, 8 ch
• 6 tr in the tr of the previous round, inc, 8 ch – the rest of the round

• 7 tr, 9 ch
• 8 tr in the tr of the previous round, 9 ch – the rest of the round

• 6 tr, inc, 10 ch
• 7 tr in the tr of the previous round, inc, 10 ch – the rest of the round

• 8 tr, 11 ch
• 9 tr in the tr of the previous round 11 ch – the rest of the round

• 7 tr, inc, 12 ch
• 8 tr in the tr of the previous round inc, 12 ch – the rest of the round

• 9 tr, 13 ch
• 10 tr in the tr of the previous round, 13 ch – the rest of the round

• 8 tr, inc, 14 ch
• 9 tr in the tr of the previous round inc, 14 ch – the rest of the round

• 10 tr, 15 ch
• 11 tr in the tr of the previous round, 15 ch – the rest of the round

Finish with sl st.

Make dc around the metal ring and finish with sl st, so the ends are joined. Leave one of the ends long so you can make a loop – weave in the ends.

  

You now attach the dream catcher to the ring. Use stitch markers to place it evenly, and then sew it on securely. Lead the yarn through the double crochet stitches around the ring – so they won’t be visible. 

Cut a bunch of long strands of yarn with glitter thread and tie them onto the bottom of the dream catcher. You can use the same colour, with or without glitter, or you can choose to add a different colour.
