What is diamond painting?

Diamond painting is exactly what the name implies - it is the process of creating pictures with diamonds or small rhinestones in different colours. If this is your first time reading about the topic, it may be a little hard to imagine exactly how that would work, but once you have tried it out, you are guaranteed to love the beautiful results and the fun and stress-relieving process.

You can do diamond painting on a canvas made of either fabric or paper, or you can also find projects to be made on a thin wooden board. Common for all is that you use small, coloured stones to create colourful and interesting pictures.

How do you diamond paint?

Usually, you buy the picture as a ready-made package, which includes diamonds in all the colours you need, as well as a canvas for you to apply the stones to.

The process is similar to the old-fashioned ‘paint-by-number’ pictures, where each colour has a matching number and by filling in the correct fields, the picture will slowly emerge on your canvas. For diamond painting, you need an adhesive canvas in order for the small stones to stick, and you work with coloured stones with numbers that match the numbers on your canvas. You can then apply the stones in the right places and this way ‘paint’ with the diamonds.

You can either use your hands or choose to use tweezers to pick up the stones and place them correctly - you will quickly find out what works best for you. The pictures are a lot of fun to make and beautiful as wall decorations.
