Ch 40, turn with 2 ch. Finish each rd with 1 sl st in the top of the two ch. Start each rd with 2 ch, which does not count as a tr.
Rd 1 Make 1 tr in the first 30 s, 2 tr in the last s, continue to crochet around the ch and make 1 tr in the last 39 s (80)
Rd 2-3 3 bptc, *2 fptc, 6 bptc* x 9, 2 fptc, 3 bptc (80)
Rd 4-5 2 bptc, *4 fptc, 4 bptc* x 9, 4 fptc, 2 bptc (80)
Rd 6-7 1 bptc, *6 fptc, 2 bptc* x 9, 6 fptc, 1 bptc (80)
Rd 8-9 1 fptc, *6 bptc, 2 fptc* x 9, 6 bptc, 1 fptc (80)
Rd 10-11 2 fptc, *4 bptc, 4 fptc* x 9, 4 bptc, 2 fptc (80)
Rd 12-13 3 fptc, *2 bptc, 6 fptc* x 9, 2 bptc, 3 fptc (80)
Rd 14-25 Repeat rd 2-13 (80)
Rd 26-31 Repeat rd 2-7 (80)
Rd 32 Make 1 rw with 1 km trough both loops on both layers (40)
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
If you want your potholders bigger, repeat round 2-13 until the potholder have the size you want.
Handle
Ch 21, start in the 2nd ch from the hook and make 1 sl st in each ch (20)
The handle has to go between the last two tr from rd 31 in one of the corners. Put your hook through both layers and pull the handle through. Make a sl st through the first s on the handle, so it makes a circle.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
If you want a bigger or smaller handle, you can use more or less chains.
Make another potholder like this one, so you have a pair.
