Free baby blanket crochet pattern – Between the Lines

Here you get a free pattern for the prettiest baby blanket, which is crocheted in the finest Infinity Hearts Baby Merino yarn. It is so amazingly soft that you will want to cuddle up in it yourself.

Measurements

The blanket measures approx. 75 x 75 cm

Materials

• 350 g Infinity Hearts Baby Merino

I would always recommend buying an extra ball of yarn in case your crochet tension deviates a bit, or you want the blanket to be a little bigger, or simply just in case a problem should arise with one of the yarns. If you wish to be on the safe side, I recommend you get 400 grams.

• Crochet hook size 3.5 or 4.0 mm or whichever you may need to get the tension of 10x10 cm = 20 tr x 11 row
• Scissors
• (Possibly) a place marker to mark how far you have come
• Blocking matte and needles
• Darning-needle for weaving in ends.

Abbreviations

ch – chain stitch

sl st – slip stitch

tr – treble

BPtr – back post treble crochet (the treble stitch is crocheted around the back and the treble stitch from the previous round)

ps – puff stitch (Wrap the yarn around the hook, insert into the stitch and pick up the yarn– repeat 5 times. You now have 11 loops on your hook. Yarn over, and pull through the 10 loops, yarn over and draw through the last one) *-* - Repeat the number of times indicated between the star symbols.

Instructions

The blanket:

Start with doing 4 ch and join them in a ring with 1 sl st in the first ch.

Rd. 1. Make 5 ch and then crochet down into the ch-ring *2 tr, 2 ch* 3 times total, 1 tr, finish with 1 sl st in 3 ch from the beginning of the round

From here on, every round ends with a sl st in the ch-curve – this is not further stated as it should be done in every single round

Rd. 2 4 ch, 2 tr in the ch-curve, 1 tr in the next 2 s, *(2 tr, 2 ch, 2 tr) in the ch-curve, 1 tr in the next 2 s* 3 times total, 1 tr in the ch-curve from the previous round and finish with 1 sl st in 2 ch from the beginning of the round

In the following rows, you begin the puff stitch hearts. This will make the hearts look ‘crooked’ and the blanket will ‘wave’ a bit, but it will straighten out later after a good blocking when the whole blanket is finished!

Your blanket is now finished and is ready for blocking. You can wash it first, either by following the washing instructions, but you can also use a nebulizer with water and make sure the carpet is well moist - I used the last method and sprayed a few times with the blanket stretched out as well.
